OS X (Tiger) Tips
Youtube limits how long descriptions can be. The rest is also posted as the first comments. This video makes the assumption that you are on an Intel mac running Tiger (as most new Mac users are). If you have any thing to add or a tutorial of your own, post it as a video response. Another thing I didn't mention: If you're on a MacBook go to the 'mouse and keyboard' menu, then on the gestures menu check all of the boxes and hover over them to see how to use them, then once they're all enabled, make good use of them!MAC APPS: (Note, you can just google the names of the ones you want to download)* gDisk - Use GMail as a hard drive.* Photoshop - NOT Intel compatible yet, so it's really slow and you might want to reconsider before sinking 300+ bucks into it.* Gimp - Like photoshop, but free, and less stable* Google Sketchup - Make 3D structures pretty quickly (you could use this and the above three for, say, backgrounds for green screened videos)* iMovie - You already have this, it's a lot lighter and simpler than Final Cut Studio, it's good for just popping out quick videos that don't require layering.* CamTwist - Free program that lets you put filters on your webcam in real time. In addition to that, you can string it through iMovie and apply those filters to video if you need to. It has a lot of filters.* iShowU - Captures video images off the screen.* TubeSock - Downloads YouTube videos directly as MP4s (or even just rips the MP3) given the URL.* MacTheRipper - Rips DVDs as files.* DVD2oneX2 - Burns ripped DVDs onto new DVDs.* LimeWire - Kind of obvious, but also consider it's 100% safe to use on Mac because you literally cannot get viruses or malware. Great for finding MP3s. (Remember, YouTube legally lets you use a great deal of copyrighted music now, such as anything from EMI)* BitTorrent - A torrent client. The OS X version of BitTorrent is actually pretty good. No need to use other ones.* CyberDuck - A great FTP.* Audacity - Free audio editor.* Google Earth - There's a mac version too. View the entire world in 3D. Real satellite images, 3D mountains and building structures, etc.* Colloquy - Great IRC program for OS X* Safari 3 - Safari is the most stable browser on OS X. The OS X version of FireFox has a lot of problems. Get the newest version at http://www.apple.com/safari/* Adium - Amazing instant messaging program for OS X. Like Trillian on PCs, but a lot easier to use. Sign in to multiple screen names on different networks (AIM, MSN, YIM, Google Talk) at the same time, automatically. Download at http://www.adiumx.com/* NeoOffice - A stable free and fast office suite like Microsoft Office.* Microsoft Office - Discontinued and slow, but, somewhat effective.* Flip4Mac - Adds more filetypes to the Quicktime codec, like Windows Media Player files. Lets you import WMA files into your projects and view them natively in quicktime.* Gmail Notifier - If you don't use Gmail, you probably should, it's the best email client on the web, and it's great for managing all the emails youtube sends. I have filters set up to ignore emails regarding my featured video, and specifically label emails about new subscribers, etc. Gmail notifier alerts you that you have new messages instantly. For more tips, check the first few comments, as I've nearly maxed out the description limit.

OK set up a dell laptop on the dell website and with the same specs as the macbook or the macbook pro. And you`ll see what`s more expensive!

Gave you five stars; showed me more info in a few minutes than I learned in a week stumbling around with OS X help. Just got the Mac a week ago, after using a PC for the last six or so years. Hope you do more videos on the Mac. Thanks. ntrimm

macs are not overpriced. You pay fr wat you get..If you use a PC for 5 years im sure you wouldve paid 2 times the price fr a Mac repairing stuff. However for the Mac.. You wont need to spend another centfr a repair.
