So what its twice as potent? It still doenst kill anyone. I'm brazilian and these spiders are a minor nuisanse, no one cares about these spiders that don't kill ANYONE (except perhabs small children, but its very rare), this vid was made to produce fear and wonder, just like any hollywoodian movie that makes you believe brazil is full of killer anacondas, piranhas, carnivore ants, spiders, and other monsters. This vid was made for ignorants who know nothing about brazilian fauna.....

it does suck to be bit by a tarantula... my mom had to call poison control! :( I now have arachnophobia...
SurpentineSacrifice (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
well that only works if you see it first, if it bites you, and its a wandering spider, your fucked if you dont know what bit you. heres a question though, doesnt seritonin make us feel good?
metallifreak77 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
daymn the wandering spider is really creepy as all hell! hahaI could never live in Brazil now. Honestly. It wanders into houses, AND it has venom TWICE as potent as a black widow.Fuuuuuck that. haha

Well said. And tarantulas don't really bite unless threatened. Some people even pet them.

I have to agree with that mentality also. hahaha, but it's a good laugh sometimes right?

Dude, this is why whenever i see any 6, 8 and more legged insect its most likely to die under my shoe soles, or by anyother weapon i can use.. Specially any spider..

just like humans attack a mountain lion defending its cub.
AlkalineLoris (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Technically Tarantulas aren't deadly to humans, but it depends on the person bitten. A large proportion of deaths from venomous bites aren't caused by the envenomation itself, but from anaphylaxic shock. Someone who is allergic to neurotoxin would be just as likely to die from a wasp sting than a funnel-web bite. But on the whole, Tarantulas aren't dangerous. Their venom isn't as potent as smaller Mygalomorphae, as they also use their size and strength to kill prey.
